About Us - Summer School Tasiilaq 

 - a voluntary Danish association that runs activity-based workshops for children and young people in East Greenland.

Every summer, the association travels to Tasiilaq, where various workshops are held during the children’s summer holidays. The workshops take place at Tasiilaq’s public school, “Tasiilami Alivarpi”, and out in nature. The workshops are planned and prepared several months in advance. At the school, a range of creative activities are offered, and in the kitchen, children and young people also help bake rolls for breakfast and prepare the delicious food for lunch.

Oh yes – and there is cake every Friday as well.

In addition to the creative activities at the school, there are also various movement classes. In the sports hall there are games and physical activities. The outdoor group heads into the mountains, where they might go swimming, practice yoga, cook over an open fire, go fishing, or do something else entirely.

A completely new initiative in 2026 is a Kayak Workshop, where 4 groups will have the pleasure of being out on the water.

Every year, the summer school concludes with a large Exhibition in the school’s assembly hall. The whole town is invited for coffee and cake, and the children proudly present their results. This is also where the association has the opportunity to thank the partners who are essential to making the project a success. A huge thank you is also extended here to the foundations and sponsors who have contributed to the project.
